Emergency services rush to serious rollover on popular tourist road, elderly man escapes with minor injuries

An elderly man has remarkably escaped with only minor injuries despite a horror crash on Frenchman Bay Road in the Torndirrup National Park, near Albany on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services rushed to the scene of a crash about 3.45pm and found a Toyota Corolla more than 15m off the road on the popular tourist route. The driver of the rolled car was trapped and had to be freed from the wreck by firefighters. Police said the vehicle was travelling on Frenchman Bay Road, between The Gap Road and Blowholes Road, towards Goode Beach when it crashed. The Corolla veered suddenly to the left, became airborne and flipped before coming to rest upright in bushland facing in the opposite direction. Passing motorists came to the man’s aid before emergency services arrived. Police say the man in his 70s, who was travelling alone, was taken to Albany Health Campus by St John WA but did not have any serious injuries.
