Elderly pair escape without serious injury after car crashes through fence in Albany car park

An elderly couple escaped serious injury after their car crashed through a fence and down an embankment in a car park in Mira Mar on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called to the car park on Middleton Road about 10.45am after a Suzuki Vitara was left hanging down an embankment.

Albany police said the driver accidentally put his foot on the accelerator instead of the brake, sending the car through the fence and over the edge of the car park.

The male driver and his female passenger were helped from the car then taken to Albany Health Campus for assessment.

A St John Ambulance spokeswoman said the couple were not badly hurt.
