Railways were at their efficient best in Saturday’s 103-point demolition of Denmark-Walpole at McLean Park to take winning momentum into the Great Southern Football League finals series.

The Tigers won the inside 50 count 50-40 over the Magpies but were ruthless in attack, conjuring 32 scoring shots as they tuned up for a second semifinal showdown with Royals this Saturday.

That was most evident in the second quarter as the Tigers kicked eight straight from 12 entries, racing clear by 40 points at half time.

With prime trio Mitch Green, Logan Stubber and Joel Want dominating in the middle, the Tigers kicked five unanswered goals heading into half-time and a seven-goal to nil third term blew the game apart.

Any doubts on the fitness of Green and captain Bodhi Stubber were dismissed as they played keys roles in the 21.11 (137) to 4.10 (34) victory.

Green won a stack of the ball and kicked two goals and Bodhi Stubber cut everything off across half back in the first half.

Logan Stubber appears set to earn Kleemann Medal votes in the final round after an influential display that included three goals.

Henrick Alforque finished with a game-high four goals as the Tigers played with their full cap of 28 points.

“Getting through with no injuries is great and I thought the first half was a good, solid hit-out,” Tigers coach Troy Leo said.

“We didn’t play those guys before we thought they were right to go and we look forward to Saturday now.”

The Magpies were left to rue a couple of easy misses in the second term and their only goal of the second half came virtually on the final siren.

Lee Gropp, Tyler Stone, Luke Hutcheson in his 50th game and Jared Lane were all strong contributors in the loss.

“Its been a challenging year but the boys stuck at it and we’ll re-set for next year,” co-coach Ryan Gaerth said.
