The Disabled Surfers Association Great Southern is looking for surf lovers to volunteer at its regular Let’s Go Surfing days this year.

The DSA helps people with disability get in the water, catch some waves and enjoy surfing.

Its calendar of events for summer is locked in and DSA Great Southern is now looking for local volunteers to help run smooth and enjoyable days of surfing fun.

“We would love volunteers of all ages,” DSA Great Southern president Kerry Oakley said.

“You don’t have to have all your water qualifications; anyone can volunteer, even if it’s just keeping the surfers entertained on the beach.

Ms Oakley said the most rewarding part of volunteering was seeing the surfers enjoying their ocean experience.

“When you see the smiles on the surfers’ faces, it’s all well worth it,” she said.

“Not many surfers get an opportunity to come down to the beach where they feel safe and they can try these experiences in the water.”

The first Let’s Go Surfing day of the year is scheduled at Middleton Beach on Saturday, January 14.For more information and the online sign-up link, visit the DSA Great Southern’s Facebook page.

Participants can also register on the day from 9am.

The surfing will wrap up by 11.30am and will be followed by a presentation for the best surfer and volunteer and a sausage sizzle.

People interested in volunteering can call Ms Oakley at 0499 401 001.
