Dominant side Manypeaks hoping for more premiership glory in men’s A-grade decider against Spencer Park

Manypeaks will be hoping to win their first Lower Great Southern Hockey Association men’s A-grade premiership since 2016 when they face Spencer Park in the grand final on Saturday. Peaks have won eight of the last 13 grand finals, while Park are looking to win back-to-back premierships. The top two sides have met six times this season, with Peaks winning on three occasions, including their most recent clash in the semifinal that went to extra time. Peaks are confident key player Tim Pyle, who missed the semifinal with a groin complaint, will return for the decider. Striker Mitch Bradbury, Kieran Howie and goalkeeper Heath Cremasco will be key players, acc-ording to captain Chris Metcalfe. “We are expecting the same from Park as we have all year, a very close and hard tussle,” Metcalfe said. “I think they will have a few ins from last time so that will make it an even tougher game for us. “They have some young fast players that make it difficult and Darren Parkes is a key player for them, if we can stop him that will go a long way to winning. “We need to make the most of our chances in field play and penalty corners and just play our style.” Park go in with confidence having won twice against Peaks this season and took it right up to their opponent in the semifinal. The reigning premiers will be boosted by the inclusion of James Leiper. Park coach-captain Darren Parkes will be a vital player for his team. “I’m expecting a hard, tough game right till the end, they don’t stop till final siren,” he said. “We just need to play our style and game and not change it for the big game. “A few of the boys are excited about the possibility of going back-to-back.” Parkes identified goalkeeper Simon Whitford, Brock Keymer and Leiper as key players in their title quest. The grand final will be played at 4.30pm on Saturday.
