In a small field of eight competitors that hit Les Gorman Park for the final, Higgs was in a league of his own as he led every lap on his way to feature success ahead of Rob Knox and Nathan Thiele.

Knox started the 20-lap final from pole position after a fifth, second and first place in his three heat races while Higgs would start alongside him.

Higgs needed just one corner to take the lead and he skipped out to a big advantage by the halfway point of the race.

Thiele started in position five and worked his way past Gary Higgs to secure third spot after just three laps.

He began to apply pressure on Knox in second but out in front Dustin Higgs was sailing away from the rest of the field.

A mistake from Knox allowed Thiele and Gary Higgs closer but he was able to hold off their challenges in the concluding stages.

Earlier Thiele marked his return to the track by winning the opening heat race before Dustin Higgs led from start to finish in heat two and then Knox emerged victorious in the final preliminary.
