Dinghy’s close call with whale off WA
Spectacular footage has emerged of a close encounter between a whale and tourists in a dinghy near Exmouth.
The amazing footage was captured on July 7 by Dunsborough man Mark Collins while on a holiday with his family.
The man filmed the moment a breaching whale almost crashed into a boat full of tourists close to the shore out from Tantabiddi Boat Ramp.
“My wife and family friends wanted me to take them all whale watching,” he said.
“My 12 year old son absolutely loved the experience, it was very spectacular when it happened but immediately afterwards it dawned on us how close to tragedy it was.”
“But it was great there was lots of whales up there and lots of encounters fishing, you could be drifting around fishing and a whale will appear right next to you.”
