Dance waltzes in for Wolfe

Exciting Albany two-year-old Watch Me Dance is on track to contest the $500,000 Group 2 Karrakatta Plate (1200m) on April 4 after a brilliant win at Ascot on Saturday.

A sensational winner on debut, Watch Me Dance powered home to finish third to unbeaten David Harrison-trained youngster Gemma’s Son in the $250,000 Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic (1200m) at Pinjarra on February 8.

Jockey Ryan Hill jumped back aboard The I’m All The Talk filly and she reproduced her winning debut form, charging home from the back half of the field to nail Dom To Shoot on the line in the $70,000 Salinger Plate (1100m).

Trainer Steve Wolfe said his talented filly had now earned her place in the Karrakatta Plate.

“She’s always shown us a bit and it just measures the strength of David Harrison’s horse (Gemma’s Son),” Wolfe said.

“She’s always been a serious filly and it’s great to have all the ladies involved.

“This has just brought another aspect of racing to them and they’re all so excited.

“We came here today to just make sure we had enough prize money to go to the Karrakatta.

“She won’t start again until that now I wouldn’t think.

“Perhaps she’ll have one run.”

Watch Me Dance, along with fellow Albany runners Brazen Arrow and Dark Assault, were among 46 entries released yesterday for the Karrakatta Plate.

My Greek Boy contested the Listed $100,000 Pinjarra Classic (1300m) on Sunday, finishing fifth for Wolfe and jockey Brodie Kirby.

Kirby had My Greek Boy in the lead before eventual winner Free Trade burst past him at the 200m mark.

Apollo produced a terrific run in the Tully Collins Memorial Handicap (1300m) to finish second behind Yadreamin’.

Classy three-year-old Eurasia scored an impressive placing in the All Flags Signs and Banners Handicap (1200m) at Ascot on Saturday for Wolfe, beaten 2.2 lengths behind Tommy Blue.

In other Saturday Ascot results, War Class ran fourth in the TABtouch Westspeed Platinum Handicap (1600m), just over a length off winner Sakarya while Rogers-trained Ionyx was fifth home.

Promising filly Mood Goddess, from the Wolfe yard, was among the entries announced for the Group 2 $400,000 WATC Derby (2400m) and Group 3 $250,000 WA Oaks (2400m) yesterday.
