Corey Hitchcock handy as Demons debut results in upset victory, Alforque solid in Tigers colts debut

North Albany product Corey Hitchcock enjoyed a memorable league debut for his new club Perth in round seven of the WAFL on Saturday.

Hitchcock made the switch across from Claremont this year and helped the Demons record a 20-point upset win over reigning premiers South Fremantle.

The 21-year-old kicked a goal in the 11.8 (74) 7.12 (54) result from his six touches, three marks and four tackles.

Railways’ Jye Clark made a return to the Demons’ league side and laid nine tackles to go with 12 disposals and four marks.

Royals junior Steven Edwards was named in the best for the Bulldogs in the loss. He gathered 12 possessions and took seven marks.

North Albany product and Claremont co-captain Declan Mountford was among the best for the Tigers league side in their 42-point win over East Fremantle.

He finished with 18 touches and laid eight tackles.

Morgan Davies, from Royals, collected 20 possessions, in the loss for the Sharks.

Ongerup-bred Angus Litherland was in Subiaco’s best after picking up 18 touches in their eight-point win over Swan Districts.

Railways and Albany junior Henrick Alforque played his first colts game for Claremont on Saturday and was influential in the four-point win kicking two goals from eight touches and laying nine tackles.

Talon Delacey, from North Albany, had a game-high 11 tackles in the win, along with 18 disposals.

Tyron Smallwood was named in Claremont’s reserves best players.
