Sports clubs and community organisations in the shire of Plantagenet will have the opportunity to apply for community grants from the Shire.

The grants opened on Wednesday, with application detail and further information available on the Shire’s website.

Shire president Chris Pavlovich said the council awarded more than $89,500 to 21 community groups and sporting clubs last year.

“These grants reflect council’s commitment to support clubs and groups who contribute to making Plantagenet a great place to live and visit,” he said.

This year the council has made some changes to the grants program.

“Not-for-profit organisations that lease a Shire building and provide a community service may be eligible to become an endorsed community service organisation and qualify for an annual subsidy,” Mr Pavlovich said.

“This new grant scheme will run concurrently with the main community program.”

Applications will close on April 6.
