Collingwood Park win second game of season in Albany and Districts Cricket Association under-17s comp

Collingwood Park remain undefeated in the Albany and Districts Cricket Association under-17 competition after their narrow win over Railways in round five on Sunday. The result was set up by a clinical all-round performance from Park’s Jed Schwarzbach who took six wickets and scored 48 in the 21-run triumph. Park had handy contributions from several batters as they posted a strong total batting first, before ripping through the Tigers’ bottom order on their way to a second win. Brock Wilkinson removed Rory Luscombe with the fourth ball of the match and then O’Shea Durack was dismissed in the fourth over, also at the hands of Wilkinson. With the score at 2-13, Schwarzbach and Buddy Robinson (36) dug in for an 80-run partnership before Schwarzbach was caught from the bowling of Marshall O’Meara for 48 from as many deliveries. He also hit seven boundaries. Robinson’s wicket fell 10 balls later with Park slumping to 4-98 in the 21st over. But with Austin Brown (51no) joining Ethan Foreman (29) at the crease, the two began to score freely and shared in a 56-run run stand before the latter was skittled by Milan Jaggi. Park had tail-end contributions from Kaleb Germain (25) and Jacobus Swart (11) to reach 6-224 from their 45 overs. O’Meara (2-15) and Wilkinson (2-21) were the stand-outs with the ball for the Tigers. The Tigers started the chase strongly with openers Heath Caldwell (18) and Charlie Cousins (37) piling on the runs. Jaggi fell just short of a half century before being caught behind for 49, leaving the score at 3-131. Wilkinson and Lachlan Tindale made handy contributions but they were removed for 15 and 38 respectively, leaving the Tigers at 5-190 in the 40th over. However, Schwarzbach triggered a bottom-order collapse as his side took 5-13 to dismiss the Tigers for 203 in reply. Schwarzbach was the pick of the bowlers, returning 6-16 while Durack finished with 2-24. Meanwhile, Royals recorded their second win of the season with a 69-run triumph over Manypeaks. The Lions won the toss and elected to bat, posting 167 before bowling Peaks out for 98. Strong batting contributions from Teague Valli (42), Devon Jefferis (32) and Caleb Haua (24) helped set up the win. For Peaks, Rory Sutherland (2-22) and Henry Stephens (2-10) were the multiple wicket-takers. Haua was a hard bowler to get away. He bowled four maiden overs and had the figures of 1-1 while Vincent Bascombe snared 2-18 as Peaks were all out in 34 overs. Regan Christensen (23) and Oliver Douglas (21) were the only Peaks batsmen to really get going in the run chase.
