Castle Rock rescue: Woman in her 70s carried off trail by SES and taken to hospital with lower leg injury

A woman has been transported to Plantagenet hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after a fall while walking in the Porongurup National Park on Thursday morning. Emergency services were called to assist the woman in her 70s after she slipped on a trail at Castle Rock in the Great Southern. A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said local rangers were joined by State Emergency Services volunteers at the incident. Seven volunteers from Albany SES and one from Mt Barker SES walked 30 minutes up the trail and then carried the patient back down to awaiting St John WA officers. The woman left the area at about 1.34pm and was transported under normal road conditions to the Plantagenet hospital with a lower leg injury.
