Cash splash win for Albany schools

Schools in the Albany electorate will receive nearly $2.7 million in maintenance funding in a State Government initiative expected to create hundreds of jobs in regional WA.

Premier Mark McGowan visited Albany on Friday to announce the funding as part of a $200 million maintenance package for public schools.

He visited three local schools that will benefit — North Albany Senior High School, Albany Secondary Education Support Centre, and Yakamia Primary School.

Of the 16 schools in the electorate, Albany SHS is the biggest winner, with more than $1 million going towards roofing, electrical and structural improvements as well as traffic management and toilets.

Jerramungup District High School will receive $426,000, and South Stirling Primary School and Wellstead Primary School will receive more than $200,000 each.

The nearby WA College of Agriculture — Denmark has been allocated more than $650,000.
