Capacity field for 10th anniversary of Denmark Summer Golf Classic after rush of nominations online

The popular Denmark Summer Golf Classic is a sell-out, with competitors jumping at the chance to be part of one of regional WA’s major tournaments.

The 2023 Classic field was filled within hours of registrations opening online recently.

The Classic is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and will be held at the Denmark Country Club on February 16-19, offering a first-class course and hospitality.

It will kick off with a nine-hole individual Stableford on Thursday, an 18-hole individual Stableford on Friday and a 3-hole 4BBB Stableford on the weekend.

Chair of the 2023 Classic committee, Marion Nelson, said more than 300 golfers would vie for trophies and prizes provided by sponsors.

“The competition is a major fundraiser for the club, with the thousands of dollars raised used to maintain the course in its pristine condition,” she said.

“Of course, we couldn’t do the event without the fantastic volunteer base who assist with catering, course management, administration, spotters, registrations and more.

“The hundreds of participants bring with them family and support teams which adds an economic boost to local businesses from accommodation, fuel stations, cafes and tourism attractions.

“We are working hard to deliver another fantastic event for golfers across the State and look forward to welcoming them to our great community and showcasing our fantastic course.

“Ten years of the event is a great achievement and a testament to the professionals who are involved in making it happen both on and off the course.”
