Brown’s high hopes for second national title

Former national titleholder Kodee Brown is confident he can again mix it with the big contingent of interstate drivers who will be gunning to take the SSA National Super Sedan Title home this weekend.

A total of 35 drivers will converge on Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway to contest the second National Super Sedan Title held at the venue and Brown again looms as one of the strong WA fancies.

The Broome-based competitor ended a 25-year drought for WA when he claimed a breakthrough national crown in 2013-14 at Murray Bridge in South Australia and he will be among 27 drivers competing in their home State tomorrow afternoon.

The multiple WA champion finished third in last weekend’s WA Super Sedan Title at Kalgoorlie International Speedway and believes he has enough car speed to challenge.

“We ended up third in the WA title after we blew an engine in the first heat of the weekend,” Brown said.

“We had engine dramas throughout and were lucky enough to get out there and came from seventh to third in the feature.

“The car was a lot better in the final and I’m confident in our car speed coming into this weekend but there are only more good cars coming.”

Brown said he would prepare as best he could this weekend before putting it all on the line come Saturday night when the qualifying heats began.

“I try to treat these titles like every other weekend,” he said.

“It was definitely advantageous coming down to Albany and running on the new track, I think that surface will catch a few people out.

“Albany has always been a happy hunting ground for us and I’d almost say our favourite track.”
