Bert Vosbergen Memorial for super sedans and late-model Grand Prix headline Albany’s Easter meeting
Albany Speedway Club’s Easter Showdown will feature some of the best drivers in WA as terrific fields of late models and super sedans hit the clay this weekend.
Nearly 20 late model sedans will descend on Attwell Park Speedway for the Albany Forklifts and Industries Easter Grand Prix while 20 super sedans are entered for the Bert Vosbergen Memorial.
The two blue ribbon events will be contested across Saturday and Sunday night and are part of a massive program of racing with production sedans, street stocks, modified sedans and junior sedans also in action.
Dustin Higgs will return to Albany to defend his crown in the Bert Vosbergen Memorial and is joined in the super sedan nominations by young gun Lee Aylett and experienced trio Kevin Bell, Kemble Aylett and Adyme Harvey.
Higgs won the inaugural edition last year, defeating his father Gary Higgs and Damon Trouchet.
Brent Vosbergen, a star in the late model division, will have double duties across the weekend as he pilots the No.43 machine in super sedans while also competing in the late models in his regular ride.
The Easter Grand Prix promises to be a great spectacle with a stack of quality drivers entered.
Vosbergen was recently crowned the Pro Dirt Series champion and will be one of the favourites, but Katanning-raised star Kye Blight will return to a venue that he has dominated for many years.
Blight will be behind the wheel of the Paul Stubber-owned No.31 and won the Pro Dirt Series round in Albany earlier this season.
Last year Blight powered to a commanding victory in the same event, easily beating home Craig Vosbergen.
Joe Chalmers, Michael Holmes, Luke Halliday and Freddy Kinsella and Nylander brothers Matt and Dave will also be in action.
Veteran Craig Vosbergen will also take part in an event that honours his late father.
Gates open at 4pm, hot laps commence at 5.30pm and racing starts at 6pm on both nights.
