Albany’s Ian ‘t Hart joins State election race among six minor party candidates
Albany schoolteacher Ian ‘t Hart was among six minor party candidates to throw their hats in the ring for the seat of Albany last week.
Albany-raised Mr ‘t Hart, pictured, will represent the Australian Christians at the State election on March 13.
No stranger to a political race, he ran for Albany in the 2017 State election and contested the seat of O’Connor at the 2019 Federal election.
Mr ‘t Hart ran his 2017 campaign on a platform increasing funding for school chaplaincy programs, opposing same-sex marriage, protectionism and reducing stamp duties and government charges.
He finished that campaign with 4.95 per cent of the vote, the fewest votes of all six candidates behind the Greens WA (6.56 per cent) and One Nation (6.89 per cent).
Ahead of the March 13 vote, Mr ‘t Hart said he would offer a “strong conservative voice”.
“I give my assurance that I will stand by a set of moral values and will always promote polices that value strong families, strong community and freedom of religion and speech,” he said.
“We need stronger law and order. We need to raise the standards in education.
“We need to increase support for the vulnerable and increase funding to help people overcome addiction.”
