Albany and Districts cricket association under-16 and under-14 teams both kickstarted their 2020 junior country week campaign with comprehensive wins in round one yesterday.

Vice-captain Oliver Pluckhahn led the way for the 16s side, whacking an impressive knock of 58 from 41 balls, including nine fours, and was well supported by Jack Stephens (23) and Jonte Eastough (20no) as their side ended up on 3-132 off 20 overs.

Captain Charlie Walters, along with Pluckhahn, led from the front as they both claimed two wickets in the run chase, restricting Peel Cricket Association to 7-109 off their 20 overs to record a 23-run win.

Albany lost to Peel by six wickets in the second T20 clash. Peel made 4-131 in reply to Albany’s 4-116, led by 39 from Walters.

A superb knock from vice-captain Bailey Peacock guided the Albany under-14s to a comfortable 37-run win over West Pilbara Junior Cricket Association yesterday. Peacock whacked 60 off 45 balls, which saw him find the boundary eight times and clear the rope once, while Jed Schwarzbach chipped in 30 as they posted 8-129.

Schwarzbach and Rory Luscombe both took two wickets for Albany as West Pilbara could manage only 9-92 from 20 overs.

Albany were 68-run winners in game two as Teague Valli made 28 and took 2-8 with the ball.
