ASC head coach Nola Osborne praised the dedication from her talented group of swimmers.

“This was a very exciting meet with some great results achieved by all 10 athletes,” she said.

“We have been training hard all short course season and this was our final meet before junior States, so now is a perfect time to have everything falling into place.

“Malachy Williams and Sam Forgus were stand-outs on Sunday.

“Sam finished his day with seven medals from his seven events and a new club record for his 25m butterfly event.

“Malachy shone with eight medals from his 11 events and set three new club records in 25m backstroke, 25m breaststroke and 25m freestyle.

“It was the first away meet for Deaghlan, Taj, Faolan and Stephanie and all four young athletes performed amazingly well.

“All four athletes had at least one top 10 finish at this meet, with Faolan breaking the club record for his 100m individual medley event which was an awesome achievement.

“Seth Lawson also had a great day out, edging closer to his sub-30 in his 50m freestyle, taking 1.18 seconds off his entry time to finish with a finals time of 30.:0 and a gold medal while Jason Wenbourne shaved a tidy 24.94 seconds off his 200 IM entry time.

“Sunny was competing at his second away meet and executed some great race plans in his six events, it was great to see him perform so well at this meet.

“Most exciting to watch was Kalarney Williams who performed well over the shorter distances of 50m and 100m.

“Kalarney’s recent focus has been to target the longer distance swims so to achieve such great results over these short distances is something he can be very proud of.

“The competition standard was high on Sunday and was a good warmup for Seth, Kalarney, Malachy and Sam for Junior States at HBF Stadium in Perth.

“To qualify and compete at a States meet is a major achievement for this five.”
