Albany Surf Lifesaving Club were well represented at the recent WA State Championships and Country Championships.

At the WA State Championships held on March 13 and 14 at Scarborough Beach, the ASLC nippers State team was one of the smallest, but also one of the standouts, as nearly 900 kids from around the State competed against each other.

ASLC also sent a strong team away to the Country Championships held at Mullaloo Beach late last month.

All seven managed to pull out something special, doing well in their heats to get to the finals.

The standout performances started when Anderson was pipped at the post to come fourth in the under-13 1km beach run, then Eley-Woodhouse snagged a bronze medal through the soft beach sand in the under-11 1km beach run.

Creed Shepherd braved some fierce jelly fish stings and finished with a silver medal in the under-11 surf race and a bronze in the under-11 Ironman.

The smiling faces and terrific sportsmanship shown by the Albany kids had many of the bigger Perth clubs commenting on the friendly and talented kids from the south.

At the Country Championships, Hamish and Angus Bowles competed strongly, while Jake Shepherd was also a standout for Albany as they finished third overall.
