Albany man admits to child sex exploitation charges

An Albany man who was charged with child exploitation offences stemming from a tip off by US police, has pleaded guilty in court.

Jonathon Neal Lewis, 29, fronted Albany Magistrates Court via videolink from Albany Regional Prison today where he pleaded guilty to four charges.

The court was previously told Mr Lewis communicated with a 14 year-old girl through electronic means, seeking to groom her in sexual activity.

After a tip off from US police in June last year regarding the alleged online activities of the WA man, Albany detectives searched a Great Southern home on January 30.

The charges of involving a child in child exploitation, showing offensive material to a child under 16 years and encouraging a child of or over 13 years and under 16 years to do an indecent act were committed between April and May in Orana last year.

He was also charged with failing to comply with reporting obligations between June and January.

A psychological and pre sentence report was ordered before Mr Lewis is sentenced in the Albany District Court on May 21.
