Albany driver ready for swansong in the seat
Albany driver David Hall hopes to go out with a bang in his final race in the 360 sprintcar ranks when he contests the 360 Sprintcar Power Series Grand Final at Albany’s Attwell Park Speedway on Saturday.
Hall has been a regular in the sprintcar ranks for several years and has clocked up plenty of kilometres chasing the division across WA but will call an end to his successful time in the sport after Saturday’s feature race.
He is among a field of 11 drivers who will contest the final round of the series, including incumbent series champion and young hot shot Kaiden Manders, along with Michael and Daniel Keen, AJ Nash and Paul Peet.
Hall said it would be nice to cap his time in the seat with a win in front of his home fans.
“I would much rather be in my other car,” Hall said.
“But we tore that up so I’m in my old car.
“I’m looking forward to running on the new surface and it would be great to go out with a win.
“It’s been fantastic to be involved over a number of years but the time has come. I’m ready to move on and leave it to the young guys.”
With the upcoming SSA National Super Sedan Title in Albany next month, former national champion and WA star Kodee Brown will be among a field of super sedans that form part of the support divisions on Saturday night.
Brown and his fellow super sedan drivers will be getting valuable track time at Attwell Park ahead of the national title on April 15 and 16. Also on the program will be formula 125s, production sedans, junior sedans and street stocks.
Gates open at 4pm and racing starts at 6pm.
Meanwhile, Albany’s Sam Jewell won the 2017 Formula 125 State title at Avon Valley Speedway at the weekend.
Jewell blitzed the field to defeat fellow Albany competitor Nathen Tester and Darren Cartwright.
