Cable Boy produced a terrific finish to land Albany trainer Steve Wolfe and senior jockey Shaun McGruddy a double at the Fitzpatrick Plate meeting on Sunday.

The Wolfe-McGruddy combination were hopeful of taking out the $100,000 feature race with $2.30 favourite River Rubicon but they had to settle for third.

But the pair bookended the program with Ribbing and Cable Boy both successful at the meeting.

Cable Boy was ultra-impressive in the TABtouch Same Race Multi Handicap (1230m), downing his rivals by nearly three lengths.

The five-year-old gelding was sent out a $4.40 chance in the field of 14 and settled perfectly midfield for McGruddy.

Cable Boy went up to tackle the leaders as the field turned for home and kicked clear, going on to win by 2.8 lengths on the line.

It was a third career win for Cable Boy, who was transferred to the Wolfe stable in 2021, but it was his most impressive victory.

Earlier, Wolfe and McGruddy combined with Ribbing ($3.90) who broke his maiden status at his 12th career start.

McGruddy wasted no time from gate 10, sending Ribbing straight to the front and they dropped off Zenzero Bay on the home corner.

Ribbing led all the way to win by 1.1 lengths with Pick And Pay working home strongly to grab second and Strenia was third across the line.

Jockey Clint Johnston-Porter rode a winning treble on the eight-race card, making it eight winners in two days.

Johnston-Porter had five victories at Ascot on Saturday, including the Easingwold Stakes on Minsk Moment, and then backed it up with three more wins on Sunday.

He saluted on Gift Of The Heart, Chad’s Me Dad and Trevello at Percy Spencer Racecourse.

Chad’s Me Dad made it three wins in 14 career starts, the Takahide Ikenushi-trained mare a narrow winner over 1600m in Albany.

Albany jockey Natasha Faithfull booted home Cartanera to an eye-catching win in the race five.

Cartanera won by 3.6 lengths, demolishing her rivals over 1900m for the William Lewthwaite stable.

Visiting trainer Darren McAuliffe had success with Niigata, charging home to win the TABtouch Watch Live Racing Handicap (1600m) by more than two lengths with Holly Watson in the saddle.
