Albany Australia Day celebrations return to beachfront for Binalup/Middleton Beach Festival
Australia Day celebrations are back at Binalup/Middleton Beach next week with the recently unveiled $9 million foreshore redevelopment to host a day of community fun.
The Binalup/Middleton Beach Festival will start early with the traditional Rotary Big Breakfast from 7am on Wednesday next to the Albany Surf Life Saving Club.
Albany’s newest citizens will share the stage with some of the community’s brightest leaders and volunteers at the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony and Community of the Year Awards from 9am.
Starting at 11am, waterslides, parkour, children’s entertainment, market stalls, dodgeball and live entertainment will carry the festivities into the afternoon.
City community relations manager Louise Paterson said there would be something for everyone at this year’s festival.
“There will be water-based activities, sports, leisurely markets, food stalls and plenty of activities for the kids,” she said.
“There is an entertainment program that will showcase our region’s very talented performers including dance groups, the Albany Pipe Band and several live music acts.
“The City is thrilled to be staging the popular Binalup/Middleton Beach Festival at our beautiful redeveloped beachside space.”
