Celebrating 61 years of art, the Albany Art Group will hold its Festive Splendour summer exhibition at the Albany Town Hall.

The exhibition will run from December 30 to January 27, showcasing the creative works of Mt Barker, Denmark and Albany artists.

At more than 100 artists strong, the diverse art group continues to grow and ranges in age from high school students to octogenarians.

The exhibit will showcase a wide variety of talent and techniques, ranging from oil paintings and watercolours to sculptures and ceramics.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn from some of the group’s artists who will be available to speak about works on display.

The art group was founded in 1962 by 18 students of Geoff Ridley, a WA watercolourist and art teacher.

The group was originally established to provide encouragement and support to artists from Albany, Mt Barker and Denmark.
