From S3

Monday, streaming on Stan

You know a TV show’s great when the King of Horror himself, Mr Stephen King, calls it television’s most “criminally underrated” show.

And if you’re a fan of From, Stan’s under-the-radar, scary-as-heck series, you’ll likely agree with him: it really is decidedly chilling.

The show, which stars Lost alumnus Harold Perrineau as the self-appointed sheriff and mayor of a nightmarish town which traps all who enter, has kept viewers guessing week by week across two seasons.

Last season ended with an epic cliffhanger, and this next one, dropping this week, promises to answer at least some of our biggest questions.

Like, what exactly IS going on with this strange town?

A tantalising release for season three hints that escape may be on the agenda for some residents, and becomes “a very real possibility as the true nature of the town comes into focus” — consider us intrigued.

The show has been nominated for 22 awards during its run, and is sitting pretty with a Rotten Tomatoes score of 96 per cent, so how come more people aren’t talking about it?

It’s a good question.

Perhaps it’s the Lost connection: the executive producers of that series are behind this one too. They famously under-delivered in a BIG way with Lost’s finale — it’s very possible people are reluctant to commit to a show with an equally head-scratching premise for fear of being let down all over again.

For what it’s worth, we don’t think you should let this put you off.

The Chase Australia

Monday, 5pm, Seven

The Chase: but supersize it! That’s the premise for a new twist coming to the perennial quiz favourite, which sees the jackpot advancing to a whopping $100,000 with the addition of “The Mega Money Spinner”. Answer 15 questions correctly and contestants get to spin the spinner for a chance to see their prize chest sky-rocket — talk about upping the ante! Fans will likely love this tweak to the format.

Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval

Tuesday, streaming on Netflix

Ellen’s been keeping a decidedly low profile post-“cancellation”. But that’s all set to change with the release of this, her first stand-up special in six years. It’s reportedly set to see her go personal on her career, her life and what she’s been up to — and we’re quoting here — since being “kicked out of show business”. Will it be enough to redeem her in everyone’s eyes? Only time will tell.

Nobody Wants This

Thursday, streaming on Netflix

Nobody Wants This is the charming TV rom-com you didn’t know you needed.

Single 30-something podcast star meets hot young rabbi — love blossoms. This sounds like the premise for a particularly cheesy straight-to-video rom-com, but is, in fact, the basis for this unexpectedly charming series starring Adam Brody (hot rabbi) and Kristen Bell (aforementioned podcast star). This is tailor-made for a good old-fashioned binge-watch, and you won’t be able to stop watching as Bell and Brody’s insane on-screen chemistry sizzles. An absolute delight!

The Front Bar Grand Final Show

Thursday, 8.30pm, Seven

This is the big one, footy heads. Mick Molloy, Sam Pang and Andy Maher are back for their annual grand final special, with bounce-down happening at 8.30pm. The show will see our favourite bar flies joined by Michael Voss, Harley Reid and Andrew Dillon, with a live performance by Birds of Tokyo. Ripper!
