Australians rise up in fresh Hamilton touring cast
The hit musical Hamilton has named its international touring company and more than half of the performers have been drawn from its Australian cast.
Jason Arrow, who first played Alexander Hamilton when the musical premiered in Sydney in 2021, will continue in the role for the tour that will start in Manila before travelling to Abu Dhabi and other cities.
Ensuring, ahem, the world's gonna know his name.
Arrow is one of 18 performers selected from the Australian Hamilton cast, making up more than half the touring company of 34 performers.
Others include New Zealander Akina Edmonds as Angelica Schuyler and Shaka Bagadu Cook, an Innawonga man from the Pilbara region in Western Australia, as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison.
The petulant King George III will be played by Brent Hill, while a dozen members of the ensemble are also from the Australian cast.
"The entire creative team and I are thrilled that Hamilton will be seen by new audiences all over the world, and for them to experience the talents of this inspiring company," said producer Jeffery Seller.
Hamilton premiered on Broadway in 2015 and has gone on to seasons in London's West End, Australia, Germany, Canada and New Zealand.
It's won 11 Tony Awards, seven Olivier Awards, the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and even a Grammy.
With a book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical tells the story of US founding father Alexander Hamilton, based on the biography by Ron Chernow.
Other performers cast in the international touring company hail from the US, UK and Germany.
