‘Oh f***’: Troye Sivan’s explicit slip up at the 2024 ARIA Awards

Troye Sivan has dropped the F-bomb in a slip up during the 2024 ARIA Awards.

The biggest night in Australian music is being held at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, with Sivan just one of many Australian stars gathering to celebrate local music.

The awards kicked off at 5pm, with Sivan asked what his beer of choice was while sitting in the crowd.

After answering it was a Peroni, the Rush star quickly became flustered when asked whether he’d used the opportunity to plug a potential sponsor.

“Oh f***,“ he said, covering his face.

Sivan then said the “vibes” of the awards ceremony are a 10, calling himself the “chief vibes officer”.

The pop artist, who grew up in Perth but was born in South Africa, touched down in Sydney after playing a show in Adelaide on Tuesday night.

He was rushed along the red carpet off the back of a massive 12 months.

Sporting sunnies and stylish grey pants paired with a beige dress shirt, Sivan is Down Under on tour off the back of the Sweat tour with Charli XCX.

Nominated for album of the year (Something To Give Each Other), Song of the Year presented by YouTube (Got Me Started), Best Solo Artist and Best Pop Release, this year’s award ceremony comes after Sivan won big at the 2023 ARIAS.

His instant hit Rush hailed in four ARIAS last year: Best Produced Release, Best Engineered Release, Song of the Year, Best Solo Artist.

He said it had been “the most insane week of (his) life” while accepting the award for Song of the Year in 2023.

“It’s really, really tripping me out,” Sivan said.

Stars earlier strutted their stuff on the red carpet, but while it’s usually a chance to stand out, many attendees have opted to be more subtle with their attire this year, putting together monochromatic looks.

Another crowd favourite expected to win big is Royel Otis, who are up for Album of the Year, Song of the Year (Triple J Like A Version of Murder on the Dance Floor), Best Group, Best independent Release with Ourness/Believe, Best Rock Album, Best Australian Live Act for their PRATTS & PAIN tour, Best Engineered Release with Chris Collins for their Pratts & Pain album, and Best Produced Release for the same album with Chris Collins again up for the award.

The Sydney duo, comprised of Royel Maddell and Otis Pavlovic, recently cancelled their December US tour over “devastating family matters”.

The group shot up after their cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s hit Murder on the Dance Floor, which had new life breathed into it following the release of Saltburn.

Some of Australia’s biggest stars will hit the stage to perform on Wednesday, with Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Amy Shark and Budjerah already rocking out the venue.

The Kid LAROI, Missy Higgins, Jessica Mauboy, Troy Cassar-Daley, and Angie McMahon are also set to hit the stage.

However Australian rapper The Kid LAROI will delight audiences via a pre-recorded performance as he’s due to play in Perth on Wednesday night.

He’s up for Song of the Year presented by YouTube (Nights Like This), Best Solo Artist and Best Hip Hop/Rap Release (The First Time, Deluxe Version), and Best Pop Release (Girls).

The NSW musician recently performed at the NRL grand final, belting out fan favourites Stay and Without You before launching into a cover of INXS’ Never Tear Us Apart.

American singer Ava Max took to the stage with hits Spot a Fake, Kings & Queens, Sweet but a psycho, and her popular rendition of Alphaville’s Forever Young.
